The Yucatan 2003, Getting there: 24 - 25 March 2003

Days 1-2

by Aaron 3/24 - 3/25/2003

Day 1

Today I got up at 6:30. I took a shower first. It felt good to be nice and clean. After I did that I had a nice big bowl of oatmeal. I put two spoonfuls of milk in it. It was delicious. After I ate my oatmeal I got dressed, I put on my red shirt and my white pants with the plastic buckle. I looked snazzy.
Next I went to the airport. It was the worst day of my life. When we got to the airport all my friends were there. Kevin is my best friend (tear-tear). We sat waiting in line for a long time. It must have been like 20 minutes. Finally it was our turn to get our bags checked. The lady asked for my mom's and my birth certificate/passport. My mom gave her mine but had forgotten to bring hers.
We had to get a later flight. I was really mad. When we got back home my parents had to pamper me. I got to rent two movies Stargate and Atlantis: The Lost Empire. They were really good. Later that night we went out to sushi, my favorite. I ordered a nigiri combination. It's a bunch of pieces of sushi and it comes with a tuna roll called Tekka Maki.

Day 2

We went back to the airport. This time my mom remembered her birth certificate. We had to wait an hour before our flight arrived at 12:00. I slept through the entire flight except for takeoff and landing.
Next we arrived in Dallas, Texas. We had to wait for hours until our flight arrived. When we boarded I fell right asleep. I woke up right when we were coming into the Mexico coast.
When we landed we had to go through customs. It took about 20 minutes but it was extremely hot so it felt like forever. A shuttle picked us up because it was pre-arranged. We drove 2 hours to a place called Xel-Ha. It was a water resort where you could swim in a large lagoon. The water was really warm. I swam with a lot of different types of fish.

When we left we had to drive 2 hours to our 5-star hotel in Chichen Itza called MayaLand. That's where I wrote this journal entry.
